Depending upon your area of research you may want to focus on some resources more than others.

Below is a list of databases I recommend for searching on this topic. If you need help with searching, you can make an appointment with me and we can search together.

  • ERIC (EBSCO) Best Bet
    The Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1,000 educational and education-related journals.
  • Teacher Reference Center Best Bet
    This index offers over 260 titles from the most popular teacher and administrator trade journals, periodicals, and books. This database provides coverage on key education topics such as Assessment, Continuing Education, Current Pedagogical Research, Curriculum Development, Instructional Media, Language Arts, Literacy Standards, Science & Mathematics, and more for K-12 Teachers & Librarians.
  • Academic Search Complete (EBSCO)
    Academic Search Complete is the library's most popular database. It includes multi-disciplinary coverage,full-text access to journal articles and other scholarly materials not typically available through web searches.
  • Google Scholar Featured
    Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature using the familiar Google interface. Google Scholar helps you find relevant work across the world of scholarly research. If you are off-campus, use these instructions to set it up for full access to library resources.
  • Professional Development Collection
    Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of nearly 520 high quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.
  • Social Sciences Full Text
    This source indexes a wide variety of sources related to the social sciences including sociology, family studies, public administration, social work, etc.
  • SocINDEX with Full Text
    This database has full-text articles that cover all aspects of sociology and closely related areas of study.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is another resource for finding research articles. Look on the right hand side of the screen for the "Check MCLA Full-Text" links that will bring you to the article in one of our databases. You can also look for the free PDFs listed on the right hand side. If you are off-campus, use these instructions to set it up for full access to library resources.
