Film

Much of academic film writing focuses on social issues in some way so search the library's research databases for scholarly articles about films and social issues to find resources to support your writing.

Use the boxes and other options on the search page to build a search.  An example would be, "United States," and "motion picture" and "single mothers" will bring up writing about movies that discuss single mothers in the United States.

The MLA International Bibliography Database includes over 100,000 citations for works on film, television, and radio, making it an important source of scholarly research. The database has some powerful tools to make your research easier and more precise. You can find tutorials on using the database on the English and Literature Research Guide.

You can search the library's book collection for resources on film by doing a keyword search.

Or you can browse the shelves. The Freel Library arranges books by Library of Congress call numbers. The major section for books about film is listed below. You can find these call numbers in the Reference section on the main floor, and in the language & literature room on the lower level.
